Custom porcelain veneers from Dr. Andy Keith, planned and placed at our office on Fourth Avenue in the heart of Hillcrest.
Porcelain Veneers in Hillcrest, San Diego
Some cosmetic problems do not respond to the usual fixes. A front tooth stays gray after whitening, an old bonded edge keeps chipping, or a small gap still shows in every photo. Porcelain veneers cover the front surface of those teeth with thin, custom-made shells, so the color, shape, and spacing of your smile can change over a few visits.
At Sunrise Dental Arts, Dr. Andy Keith places porcelain veneers in San Diego from our office at 3645 Fourth Avenue, right here in Hillcrest. Before he recommends veneers, he looks at whether a simpler option would give you the same result, because veneers are a permanent change to your teeth.
Is a Veneer the Right Fix for Your Teeth?
Veneers work best on healthy front teeth that are stained, chipped, slightly uneven, or spaced apart. According to the American Dental Association, decay or gum disease needs to be treated before veneers are placed, and veneers may not be a good choice for people who clench or grind their teeth or have a deep overbite.
That is why your first visit is a dental exam as well as a conversation about looks. If grinding is part of the picture, we may pair veneers with a custom night guard or suggest a different treatment. If a tooth is heavily filled or cracked, a crown may protect it better than a thin shell.

Exam and Smile Goals
We start by talking about what bothers you when you smile, then check your teeth, gums, and bite. Photos of your smile help Dr. Keith show you which teeth would benefit from veneers and which may only need whitening or bonding.
Treating Problems First
If the exam finds a cavity, gum inflammation, or signs of grinding, we address those first. Placing veneers over unhealthy teeth can make existing problems worse, so this step protects the result as well as your teeth.
Shaping and Impressions
With the area numbed, a thin layer of enamel is removed from the front of each tooth so the veneer sits flush. We then take impressions or digital scans, and together we choose a shade that suits your face and the teeth around it.
Wearing Temporaries
A dental lab makes your porcelain veneers to the measurements we send. In the meantime, you may wear temporary veneers that protect the prepared teeth and give you an early sense of the new shape.
Bonding and Bite Check
At the final visit, Dr. Keith tries each veneer in place, checks the color and fit, and then bonds it to the tooth. We test your bite before you leave, and a short follow-up visit lets us smooth anything that feels high or rough.
Veneers Close to Home in Hillcrest
Our office sits on Fourth Avenue, a short walk from the Hillcrest sign and the shops and restaurants along University Avenue. Many Hillcrest residents can walk to their appointments, which makes it easy to fit a shade check or follow-up into a lunch break. For cleanings, exams, and the rest of our services, visit our Hillcrest dentist page.
We see patients Monday through Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Thursday from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Because the office is so close, small adjustments after your veneers are bonded do not require a long trip.

FAQs
Is your office in Hillcrest?
Yes. Sunrise Dental Arts is at 3645 Fourth Avenue in Hillcrest, San Diego, CA 92103. Many neighborhood residents can walk to us, and the drive is short from most of Uptown.
What are your hours for veneer appointments?
We are open Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Thursday from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The office is closed Friday through Sunday. The early Thursday start can make it easier to come in before work.
How many teeth need veneers?
It depends on what you want to change. One veneer can correct a single chipped or darkened tooth, while a broader change usually covers the teeth that show when you smile. Dr. Keith will show you which teeth affect the result most so you do not treat more teeth than you need.
Will veneers make my teeth feel bulky?
Veneers are thin, and a small amount of enamel is removed so each one sits flush with the tooth. It may take a few days to get used to how they feel. If anything feels thick, rough, or uneven when you bite, tell us and we can adjust it.
Can I get veneers if I grind my teeth?
Grinding puts heavy force on porcelain and can chip or loosen a veneer. In some cases we treat the grinding first or protect the veneers with a custom night guard, and in others a crown or another option may hold up better. We will look for signs of wear during your exam.
